Jennifer Taylor, MS, DVM, CCRT, CVA

Veterinarian

Dr. Taylor grew up in Virginia and studied for a dual-degree in Biology and Animal and Poultry Sciences at Virginia Tech.  She was accepted to veterinary school after only 3 years of undergraduate study and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Molecular Virology and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009.  Dr. Taylor worked in a small animal practice in Virginia for nearly 10 years.  In 2018 she attended the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and become certified as a canine rehabilitation therapist.  In January of 2020 she also started her study of canine acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida.

Dr. Taylor’s passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine developed after she diagnosed her older German shepherd, Tesla, with a severe elbow deformity. Tesla was competing at a high level in agility by the time she started to show signs of the problem. In her desire to try and keep Tesla comfortable and active, she started to learn as much as possible about orthopedic problems in dogs, and what treatments are available to help them. She has a wide range of knowledge to help each pet’s specific needs including the use of conventional medicines, diets, supplements, rehabilitation techniques, alternative modalities like therapy laser and underwater treadmill, and now acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Taylor moved to Florida in 2019 along with her husband, two German shepherd dogs and three Nubian goats.  In her spare time, she loves to train and compete in agility with her younger shepherd, go on long walks, and work in the garden. She is also an avid horseback rider and is hoping to add a horse to her family soon.
